Use case — Complete incomplete product catalogs automatically

Your product catalogs arrive incomplete. WeTransform's Fill the Gaps uses AI to fill missing attributes automatically — from the data already in the file.

😩 The problem

You sell on marketplaces. Each marketplace has its own product catalog format — specific mandatory attributes, specific category trees, specific naming conventions. And they're strict: an incomplete or non-compliant catalog gets rejected, or worse, listed with missing information that hurts your conversion rate.

The reality is that most product catalogs arrive incomplete. Suppliers provide 6 out of 15 required attributes. Descriptions exist but weight, material, and dimensions don't. Your team fills in the gaps manually — one product at a time, for thousands of references.

✅ How WeTransform solves it

WeTransform's Fill the Gaps feature uses AI to complete missing fields automatically — by reading the information already present in each row and inferring the missing values.

If a product has a rich description, Fill the Gaps can extract: product type, material, dimensions, weight, target audience, age range, color — whatever your target marketplace requires. Fields that would take your team hours to fill are completed in seconds.

🛒 A concrete example

You receive a catalog of 2,000 products from a supplier. Your marketplace target format requires 15 attributes. The supplier provides 6. The remaining 9 fields — product type, material, dimensions, target audience, etc. — are empty.

Each product has a detailed description column. Fill the Gaps reads every description and populates the 9 missing fields for all 2,000 products. You review, correct the few that need adjustment, and submit a complete catalog — in minutes, not days.

🚀 Beyond filling gaps — the full transformation pipeline

Fill the Gaps is one step in a broader transformation workflow. Before or after filling gaps, you can also:

  • Map categories — your supplier's category list rarely matches the marketplace's. AI maps them automatically, pair by pair

  • Normalize prices — convert currencies, apply margins, format decimals

  • Clean descriptions — remove HTML tags, standardize casing, truncate to character limits

  • Validate EAN codes — flag invalid or missing barcodes before submission

📦 At scale, with automation

When you receive regular catalog updates from multiple suppliers, you configure the transformation once per supplier — including Fill the Gaps rules — and then automate. New catalog files are processed automatically, enriched, validated, and delivered to your marketplace feed without manual intervention.

💳 A note on credits

Fill the Gaps uses AI credits — one credit consumed per field filled per row. For a catalog of 2,000 products with 9 fields to fill, that's up to 18,000 credit operations. Review your credit balance before running on large volumes, and consider testing on a sample first.
