Exporter: Email — send the transformed file to your team

Send the transformed file by email to your team after every submission. The simplest exporter: one recipient address, zero logins.

Written by Stéphane Jauffret

The Email exporter sends the transformed file by email, as an attachment, every time a file is submitted on the target format. It is the simplest way to keep a team in the loop without giving anyone a WeTransform login.

⚙️ How to set it up

  1. Open the Target formats page and click Exporters on your target format

  2. Click Add a new exporter and choose Email

  3. Enter one or several recipient addresses, for example your team's shared inbox and the account manager

From then on, every submission on that format delivers the transformed file to the recipients, whether the file was uploaded by hand, fetched from a source, or sent by a customer through the embed.

📄 The attachment respects your file settings. The file arrives in the target file format defined in General settings → File settings: CSV, XML, JSON, or XLS.

💡 Combine it with another exporter. A common setup is API push feeding your system, plus Email keeping the ops team informed with the same file.

🏭 Example — the accounting export

An accountant receives order exports from three marketplaces, each transformed into the same accounting target format. With an Email exporter pointing at [email protected], each submitted file lands directly in the accounting inbox as a CSV, ready to import into the accounting software. Nobody logs into WeTransform to download anything.
